Relative unknown to run Disney World

A longtime Disney executive who for years has kept a low profile was named president of Walt Disney World on Thursday, instantly becoming one of Central Florida's most powerful business leaders.

Meg Gilbert Crofton, director of human resources for all Disney parks and resorts, becomes the first woman to lead the Orlando attraction in its 35-year history.

Universal Orlando announced Friday that it raised its one-day, one-park adult ticket price from $63 to $67 on Aug. 12, matching the increased price for the same ticket at Walt Disney World announced Aug. 6.

Ran across this bit of news on China:

China has decided to ban foreign cartoons from primetime TV slots in an attempt to protect its indigenous animation industry, the BBC reports.

From 1 September, imports such as The Simpsons and Mickey Mouse will not be aired between 5pm and 8pm, a proscription which carries the added benefit of reducing local kids' exposure to the "effects of foreign culture".
